Dog License    

  • Dog Licenses are issued by the Town of Wien Treasurer each year. The license year covers January 1 - December 31.
  • You MUST send your slip from the vet showing rabies inoculation of your dog every year. (Usually labeled as the Rabies Certification). Please include ALL the following information for each license request:    (Extra Dog Owner Forms)

    *Owner’s name

    *Address

    *Telephone number

    *Name of the dog

    *Dog gender

    *Vet statement indicating if intact or spayed/neutered (usually on Certificate)

    *Color

    *Breed

    *Date of rabies vaccination

    *Vaccine manufacturer

    *Vaccine serial #

    *Expiration date

    Avoid handing fees - Don’t make a dog payment without the full information, including the rabies slip!

  • Who is Required:  The owner of a dog more than 5 months of age on January 1 of any year, or 5 months of age within the license year, shall annually, or on or before the date the dog becomes 5 months of age, pay the dog license tax and obtain a license.  Proof of rabies vaccination is required.

  • ***RATE CHANGE*** The minimum dog license tax is $12 for a neutered male dog or spayed female dog, upon presentation of evidence that the dog is neutered or spayed, and $20 for an unneutered male dog or unspayed female dog, or one-half of these amounts if the dog became 5 months of age after July 1 of the license year.  The payment is subject to late fees and/or additional handling fees if proper materials are not provided for licensing. Proof of rabies vaccination is required.

Burning

  • The Town of Wien’s Chairman provides oversight for burning within the limits of the Town of Wien.  Please contact the Town Chairman for further information.
    • There is no cost to residents for a burning permit.
    • Debris piles may require inspection before burning is allowed.
    • Marathon County will need to be notified before burning begins.

Culvert

  • New or replacement culverts require a permit.
  • For access on county roads, Marathon County Highway Department must issue a permit.  Find the permits needed at this link: https://www.marathoncounty.gov/services/licenses-permits/highway-permits-applications
  • For access on township roads the Town of Wien’s Chairman provides oversight.  Please contact the Town Chairman for permit information.
    • Residents are responsible for the cost of the culverts and installation of the culverts.
    • A town charges a fee of $20 for each permit.

Building Occupancy/Inspection

  • Marathon County provides zoning oversight for building occupancy and inspection needs in the Town of Wien.
